NORTHSIDE COMMON MINISTRIES MEN'S SHELTER MEALS
Bethlehem's serving teams are responsible for providing meals on the second and fourth Friday of each month. Four teams prepare, deliver, and serve the food, for which the men are most grateful. Northside Common Ministries provides hope for the homeless, treating the men with dignity and compassion, as well as a safe place to sleep at the end of a long day on the streets. In addition, NCM provides laundry facilities, warm clothing and shoes, as well as resources for the men to prepare resumes.
MIRYAM'S HOUSE WOMEN'S SHELTER MEALS
Dinners for Miryam House for Women are provided on a regular basis by Bethlehem's serving teams. Members prepare and deliver the evening meal to the women staying at the Miryam's House. Miryam's House is a program for homeless women and those at risk of homelessness. This is a wonderful way to serve for those who love to cook.
SERVE-AT-HOME MISSION MEAL
Our LIFT group volunteers to provide "side dishes and desserts" for the Stay At Home Mission Work Camp for youth held each summer in Millvale. Youth and adult "campers" perform repairs and yard work to area residents in need and greatly appreciate a prepared dinner after a busy day serving others.
NEW START FURNITURE MINISTRY
Bethlehem's furniture ministry helps others to get a "New Start." We collect donations of furniture and household items to give to others in our local community who are in need. We work with many local outreach organizations who identify the people we help. New Start can always use volunteers to pick up and deliver items. Members can also support New Start with donations of furniture and/or monetary gifts to pay for storage and purchase items not received through donations.
NORTH HILLS COMMUNITY OUTREACH FOOD BANK COLLECTION
Help local families who are struggling with not having enough food to eat. We collect donations of food and personal care items to give to the North Hills Community Outreach to be distributed to members of our community. Donations can be placed in the bin by the entrance doors to Bethlehem at any time. NHCO is an interfaith organization addressing the needs of people in crisis, hardship and poverty.
TRINITY NORTHSIDE CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS GIFTS MINISTRY
Each year the members of Bethlehem provide Christmas gifts to needy children in the Pittsburgh area. A few weeks prior to Christmas, gift slips are offered with the first name, age, and gender of a needy child. Gifts are purchased by our congregation and delivered to Trinity Lutheran Church on the Northside of Pittsburgh.
GLADE RUN LUTHERAN SERVICES
Glade Run Lutheran Services serves children, families and adults through programming related to autism, cultural activities, education and mental health. Members of Bethlehem continue our support for Glade Run Lutheran Services by providing materials and support to the Bridging Communities campaign.
PRISON MINISTRY
As a community outreach, the Health & Wellness Team collects and delivers needed items to the Allegheny County Jail. Although the jail's requests change, past items include Bibles, calendars, puzzle books, and jigsaw puzzles. The Team also collects sweat suits and socks to be given to our brothers and sisters in Christ to wear home when released from incarceration.
MONTHLY BENEVOLENCE
Monthly "Special Offering" envelopes are designated for church-wide endeavors and local ministries. A different ministry is selected for each month of the year. Focus areas include Lutheran Seminary Programs, North Hills Community Outreach, New Start Furniture Ministries, Camp Lutherlyn, HEARTH, Northside Common Ministries, Anchorpoint Ministry, Crisis Center North, Bethlehem Camperships and the Shaler's Backpack Initiative.
